Marielys Rosado Barreras is an attorney with Fuerst Ittleman David &Joseph, PL, and is also a Certified Public Accountant. She primarily practices in the areas of tax and tax litigation and controversy.

Prior to joining Fuerst Ittleman David & Joseph, PL, Ms. Rosado Barreras worked at Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC where she conducted research of international tax matters in order to aid foreign high net worth individuals with their U.S. tax planning, advised clients on international tax matters arising from business operations and transactions, assisted with international tax compliance and related provisions, and provided clients with solutions for efficient tax compliance and preparation of tax returns, among other things. Furthermore, Ms. Rosado Barreras interned at the Office of Chief Counsel of the IRS where she conducted research and drafted legal memoranda regarding tax controversies for the large business and international division and the small business and self-employed division of the IRS. In addition, during law school Ms. Rosado Barreras was a law clerk at Rivero Mestre, LLP, where she conducted research and drafted legal memoranda pertaining to commercial litigation matters.

In addition, Ms. Rosado Barreras brings years of experience from working in Big 4 accounting firms. She has worked at Deloitte & Touche, where she assisted with audits of financial statements for public and private companies in the investments, banking & finance, manufacturing, trade/retail, and hospitality & gaming industries. She has also worked at Ernst & Young, where she assisted with the preparation of corporate Income Tax Returns, Volume of Business Declarations, Annual Reports, Property Tax Returns and Estimated Tax Declarations.

Ms. Rosado Barreras was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is admitted to practice law in Florida and in the U.S. Tax Court. In addition, she is a licensed CPA by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, summa cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus (2007) and a joint Juris Doctor / Masters of Law in Taxation degree, cum laude (2012), which she completed in three years at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
